The Green Card arrived this morning.....about bloody time too. When it didn't arrive on Tuesday, I rang up the Insurer and it turned out that the muppet who assured me that he was personally taking care of things had not done a jot. After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, the next muppet had me down for a green card for France on a Suzuki....Arrgh! When I finally calmed down, I went through the whole thing again and they emailed me a photocopy of the Green Card within an hour. Now why couldn't they have done that last week when I ordered the thing!
Since it rained all day yesterday (wednesday), I decided in true wimp style not to start the trip with my boots already full of water and postponed setting off till tomorrow Thursday 17th. Too many memories of a soggy ride round Scandinavia.
This time I am going to camp/hostel and hotel it as the weather dictates and see what happens. I have already been warned off wild camping in the Balkans by the people in the know....something to do with wild bears and other tasty creatures.
Tomorrow night in Belgium or northern France and then on to see Herr Thynne in Stuttgart at the weekend for some fine German beer and sausage.
